Lt. Col. Dan Rooney to speak at AFBF convention

By Jamie Martin

The 2025 American Farm Bureau Convention will feature Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, a decorated F-16 fighter pilot and philanthropist, as its mid general session keynote speaker on January 26.

Rooney, the founder and CEO of Folds of Honor, will share insights from his military and service experiences. Folds of Honor has awarded $290 million in scholarships to families of fallen or disabled military members and first responders.

"Farmers, ranchers and members of the military center their lives around hard work, perseverance and dedication,” noted AFBF President Zippy Duvall, expressing anticipation for Rooney’s presentation.

This sentiment underscores the convention’s theme, “Step Up, Drive Forward,” aiming to motivate Farm Bureau members to engage and lead in their communities.

The convention, to be held in San Antonio, Texas from January 24-29, will also feature workshops across public policy, rural development, and more.

Topics will tackle issues like farm bill implications, farmer mental health, and engaging future agriculturists. The event will also host a trade show with the latest in agricultural technology and services.

Attendees can register through their state Farm Bureau office or directly via the AFBF.
