The Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) has thrown its support behind Kurt Schaefer for Missouri's 3rd Congressional District seat, currently held by retiring Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer. MCGA President Brent Hoerr expressed gratitude for Luetkemeyer's service while endorsing Schaefer, citing his advocacy for corn growers in the Missouri Senate and his legal background in environmental and agricultural law.
Schaefer's commitment to issues like regulatory reform, river management, trade, and ethanol aligns with MCGA's priorities. The endorsement follows Schaefer's consistent support for corn-related issues, earning him recognition from MCGA, including awards for his backing of Missouri's ethanol industry.
In response, Schaefer expressed gratitude for the endorsement and outlined his goals if elected, emphasizing promoting ethanol and ensuring the Missouri River's viability for navigation and flood control.
MCGA's support extends to other candidates too, including Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe for governor and Sen. Lincoln Hough for lieutenant governor in the upcoming statewide election. Founded in 1978, MCGA aims to safeguard member rights, expand corn markets, and foster partnerships within and beyond agriculture.
